Family Tree Data (GEDCOM) Introduction

The Carpenter-Zimmerman.org Family Tree Data GEDCOM file records the ancestral relationships between more than 9900 individuals descended from George Zimmerman. We have made special efforts to bring you this information online in HTML format so you may view it in your web browser.

You will need a password to access the Family Tree Data (GEDCOM). To learn how to get the password, read the section below titled, "How to access the Family Tree GEDCOM."

The GEDCOM password was changed on October 17, 2006. If you have not gotten a new password yet, you will need to go to the Family Tree GEDCOM forum.

Once you have the username and password, you can go directly to the Family Tree GEDCOM pages at the following URL:

Introduction by Joe Clarkson Carpenter, whose time and effort were given to bring you this GEDCOM file...

ivyWelcome to the Carpenter Zimmerman Family Tree. This record of our common ancestry continues to grow--thanks to the contributions of many family members. Names after 1940 are included, but there is no contact information that would compromise privacy.

The information given on the site has been generated using a program called Family Tree Maker. The Family Tree Maker file was saved as a GEDCOM file, then converted to an online family tree using a program called GED2HTML. Thanks to the efforts of our cousin Joseph William Carpenter for performing this conversion.

If you find any errors or omissions, please let me know by sending a message with the GEDCOM Form. The file is updated on a regular basis so additions or modifications are easily accomplished. If you want to add birth dates or any other key information on family members to make the records as complete as possible, please contact me.

If you have questions about genealogy or research matters, please contact our cousins on the Genealogy Forum. They are excellent researchers and very knowledgeable of our family.

The entire Tree will be made into charts at the Reunion 2006. It will be similar to the charts we had at the 2001 reunion but updated and, I hope, more accurate.

Looking forward to seeing you at the 2006 Reunion in Kentucky.

Enjoy,

Joe Clarkson Carpenter

You may ask... WHY is all this necessary?

The Family Tree GEDCOM data contains names and birthdates of living family members. There has been nationwide publicity about how con artists defraud unsuspecting victims and prey on unsuspecting citizens by pretending to be a "long lost relative." Therefore, we have decided the GEDCOM pages should be password protected so that access to this information is limited to family only. Please do not share the GEDCOM password with anyone outside the family.

By participating in the Family Forum, and viewing the GEDCOM data, you implicitly agree to keep it private and not share anyone's name on any list or give it to any third party. This is a condition of participation. If we find out someone is not following the rules, then they will be denied access to the Family Forum, and the GEDCOM password will be changed. The priority is to maintain a safe place where family members can communicate with other family members and have fun exploring our shared history.

Where do I get the password for the GEDCOM?

The password for the GEDCOM is listed in the Family Forum in a discussion titled, Family Tree GEDCOM Forum [Private] . You will not see it all unless you are logged in with the proper permissions. It is hidden to non-family memberrs.

For more information about the forum, including instructions about how to register, please go to the Family Forum web page. Look for the first topic: Announcements and FAQs - New users start here (PUBLIC)
